As part of its mission and corporate values, Generika Drugstore aims to improve the health of the people in the community and to educate the public about quality generic medicines. Through this activity they were able to provide free health and pharmacy care services to 1000 patients. The patients availed of free consultations for general health concerns and ophthalmology services and they were also given free medicines together with patient counseling by Generika Drugstore. (Yes, we do make sure that we counsel all patients regarding the proper use of their medicines.)

Loving the airconditioned dispensing area. So rare for medical missions!

The medicines given to the patients are for the treatment and management of certain diseases and conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, fever, cough and colds, pain and inflammation, bacterial infections, and many more. The patients were also given free vitamins and minerals.

Even with so many patients, the pharmacy area was still so organized. :)

Various volunteers from Generika Drugstore include 12 head office employees, 2 representatives from Generika Parañaque branches, and 17 trainees. Trained pharmacists and pharmacy assistants were assigned in the dispensing of medicines, while nurses gathered the patients’ vital signs. Other employees assisted the patients all throughout the medical check-up process.
The medical mission would not have been possible without the service extended by other organizations. There were two dozen doctors from the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity of the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine and the Zeta Beta Mu Fraternity of the University of Santo Tomas who volunteered for this event. There were also 17 members from the Progressive and Responsive Organization of Pharmacy from the University of the Philippines Manila College of Pharmacy who participated in this medical mission. Ideal Vision gave away 100 free reading glasses for the patients diagnosed with eye defects, and Selecta gave away free ice cream for the patients and volunteers.
