On the way to Iloilo (April 12, 2009)

Last April 12-17 was our trip to Iloilo for the Kasama sa UP National Council Meet and the General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC).

I met up with the other delegates at around 1 pm at NAIA Centennial Terminal 3 for our (supposed) 4:30pm flight. When we were about complete as group, we went inside to get our boarding pass. Lo and behold. We were left behind by the airplane! Our flight was supposedly 4:30am! Now that’s a big problem since we had to book the nearest schedule of flight which still has more or less 30 seats vacant. Fortunately, they were able to fix the problem and we were able to board the 6:20 pm Cebu Pacific flight 5J 459.

Inside the plane, it was cool there. Although a bit cramped but I was reading a book so everything’s fine. We’re all comfortable inside anyway. Most of the delegates were sleeping though. During the second half hour on air I was already starting to get dizzy. I dunno why… it was so painful so I was really relieved when the plane touched down. I couldn’t wait to get out of the plane. Claustrophobic attack perhaps?

Travel was about an hour and we arrived at the Iloilo Airport around 7:30 pm. After getting our luggage, we went outside and we rode the UP Visayas vans to UP in the Visayas, which is an hour away from the airport.

When we got there, we checked in at Balay Ilonggo and deposited our bags in our rooms. Then we all went out to Smallville, their “gimik” spot there. We ate at Mang Inasal… And the food was really superb. The prices there are relatively cheaper–like 30% off Manila rates! And the chicken was bigger and juicier too! 😀 We were all full after eating dinner so some of us decided to walk back to our dormitory. I went back riding a tricycle since I was wearing heels. ^__^

Their dormitories were very nice. Girls stayed on the second level and guys were on the ground floor. 🙂 The dorm has a living room equipped with a TV (with a viewing schedule). The girls’ dorm rooms are spacious… with cabinets and a nice bed. 🙂 There was also an electric fan so it was cool. We took a bath to refresh ourselves then went to bed afterwards. We have to wake up early since our bus leaves 7am the next day for UP Miag-ao.
