Wrath of Ondoy (September 26, 2009)
September 26, 2009. There is now another reason to remember the date. Aside from being my parents’ 22nd anniversary, this was the day the Philippines became like a major body of water.
As of now, the number of dead people rose to 70plus. More than 700,000 people were displaced.
People are angry. In fear. Shocked. People never thought this would happen.
We live in a middle class subdivision in ParaΓ±aque City. We’ve encountered several storms but not many floods. The highest flood I’ve observed in my 21 years of existence was probably mid-calf. And that was when I was in elementary.
I have never imagined (for the life of me) and thought that there will come a time that water level will rise so high as to even reach our home. π
This is a far cry from what happened in other areas. And so I am not complaining. The major reason I felt sad last Saturday was because I had to suspend presswork for our last issue this semester. We cannot suspend it any longer for then we will be too busy to even think about Kule. As a student myself, I do not want to pester the other members with reminders and updates and to even add to their burden come exam week. π
Since I had no choice but to stay at home, I had somehow at least the initiative to actually document our experience at home.
Just look at the pictures and see how fast the water level rose.
Anyway, I encourage all of you to participate in relief drives especially the ones organized in your areas so that we could be able to help the needy.
Here’s something where we can all participate: Tulong KABATAAN (for the benefit of Typhoon Ondoy’s victims). This is a cause dedicated for the youth’s efforts to help the victims of Typhoon Ondoy.

Ok kame dito, Moe. We only experience heavy rains pero sa ibang barangays baha hanggang bewang. π Houses along the shores were also wrecked. π Pero thank God walang casualty.I want to help, super! Kaya lang zero ang gcash ko now. I want to go on super sale then proceeds will be donated to the victims. Pero mahirap pa rin kasi diba most can't pay pa dahil sa mga nangyayari & all. Waaa! I really want to help!
